Welcome to The Croquet Academy
The AC High Bisque Tournament was held in Southwick on 30th July. There were 10 entries which is lower than I hoped but did give the players plenty to think about.
The games mostly went to time as there were not enough breaks set up and continued! Thought for future courses!
The matches were 14 point, 1hr 20 mins and full bisque to a base of 6.
In the end it was a close call between Bob Clark, Robin Wootton and Richard Ellis.
In the final round Bob beat Robin so became the winner of the High Bisque Salver (or in this case a bottle of wine!). The runner up was Richard Ellis who had a better hoop difference than Robin.
As a result of his win, Bob has a new handicap of 14. Richard went down to 12 on the automatic system. Well done!
We welcomed some players new to tournament play - Paul Johnson and Derek Code. I hope they benefitted from the ideas and encouragement.
My thanks to all who took part and have supported this event over the years. Grateful thanks to the coaches who assisted me : Deborah Marcus, Simon Fenn-Tye and Ray Hall. Ray also was the ROT. I hope everyone learned from the tactical advice given.
